The spirit of the President's Cup, better than the Ryder Cup?
It definitely doesn't have the same antagonism of the Ryder's Cup, where the Euros seem to relish sticking it to the U.S. team and the U.S. team happily obliges by bending over backwards to get run over. I think one day the PGA will have to combine the Ryder Cup and the President's Cup, making it a 3-team competition spanning 1-week.

David Duval, Weekend Golfer
(Mark Kimmet/Flickr)In case you havent heard, David Duval is back after a seven-month break. Duval is playing in the Viking Classic in Madison, Mississippi.
Good news for Duval fans, too. Hell play the weekend after posting 72-69.
Duval stayed home this year due to his wifes difficult pregnancy. Baby Sienna arrived last month and mother and daughter are doing well. Duvals last event was the Nissan Open in February.

President's Cup Day 1 MVP: Woody Austin
Meanwhile, did you see Vijay Singh had a 5-footer left to halve the match, but Phil and Woody conceded the putt to to Vijay upon the instruction of Jack Nicklaus. None of the announcers could believe their eyes. But, after the round, Phil said "when Captain Nicklaus says something" he does it (although Phil admitted that he might not have conceded the putt on his own). Then, all the TV announcers supported the decision. That's the power of Nicklaus.

Tiger Woods on PGA's new drug policy: penalties should be stiff
We all have Gary Player to thank for effectively putting the PGA's feet to the fire, with his unsubstantiated claim that he had personal knowledge of one player (if not several players) who was taking performance-enhancing drugs.
In our steroids era, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Gary Player was right. The pressure to hit the long ball today is so great.

Jack Nicklaus Had Polio
(Gunnsteinn J/Flickr)If I knew the Golden Bear had polio as a teen, I had forgotten. I read this over the weekend from a 2004 Golf Digest interview:
I had polio when I was 13. I started feeling stiff, my joints ached, and over a two-week period I lost my coordination and 20 pounds. The doctors thought I had the flu.
I played an exhibition with Patty Berg and shot 53 for nine holes not very good for a kid with a plus-3 handicap.
My sister, Marilyn, was diagnosed at about the same time; the doctors deduced that she got it from me. Marilyn, who was 10, was unlucky. For a year she was unable to walk but eventually got 95 percent of her movement back.
I recovered after a few weeks, but I still may suffer from post-polio syndrome. My whole career, my joints have gotten awfully sore at times. Polio is just a memory now, but it was a horrible disease. I got it a year or two before Jonas Salk's polio vaccine was distributed.
The great ones seem to overcome all kinds of obstacles.

Bernardus Lodge & Winery Review
This is the 2nd post in my series of Mazda Blogger Retreat related articles. As a byproduct of being hosted by my great friends at Mazda, I had the privilege of staying three days at the Bernardus Inn and Winery in Carmel, California. That privilege included enjoying all of the wonderful services, amenities, food, wine and atmosphere the Bernardus is famous for.
Bernardus Lodge
The Bernardus Lodge is a 57 room paradise, nestled in the hills and vineyards of the Carmel valley. My room was room #57. The lodge’s rooms are very large and extremely comfortable. My room had a huge bathroom with two sinks, two person tub, huge shower, fireplace, couch, king sized bed and its own private porch overlooking the beautiful landscape.
Bernardus lodge rooms and bocce field
I would have been content to stay in the room for three days but I was happy to enjoy the rest of the property. I took a nice walk by the vineyards and gardens. I had a great time playing bocce ball (I’d call it lawn bowling, pictured above). I didn’t have time to hit the training room, the big pool or the tennis courts but they’re definitely worth a mention.
Spa
One of the best parts of the Bernardus is the spa. I spent a whole afternoon there, being pampered in ways I didn’t even know existed before I got there. The spa offers skin treatments, massages, pedicures, manicures, waxing and more.
You get to the spa about 30 minutes before your treatment, and put on a luxurious robe and slippers in the locker room. For before, after, and between treatments, there’s a waiting room where you hang out, drink water and nibble on fresh fruit.
The spa has its own “warming pool” outside (pictured below), where you can take a refreshing dip. Many of my blogger friends were hanging out by the warming pool, drinking Bernardus wine and eating fruit. I saw someone getting a pedicure outside there too.
| spa entrance |
My first spa treatment was a full body Swedish massage. The masseuse was amazing and pinpointed knots in my neck and shoulders within seconds. Those knots are a result of hours of blogging, slouched over my laptop. With some special attention, my knots in my neck were gone and the rest of my body was very relaxed and loose.
After my first treatment I had a few minutes to replenish some water before I was “whisked” to my second treatment: Exfoliation. Exfoliation is a process where the dead skin cells are rubbed off your body.
First warm butter was poured on each section of my body that the technician was working on. Then a lavender oil and lavender bud mix was used to brush the dead skin away. The lavender buds were from the Bernardus garden.
After rinsing off all the butter, oil and buds, another oil is applied to the body to replenish the oils lost in the process.
Though I loved the massage, the exfoliation process was about as “feel good” as I could get.
After my spa treatments I spent some time in the warming pool and the steam room. I was very spent by the end of the afternoon but I felt great.
Wine & Winery
In the evening, Bernardus wine makers set up a wine tasting table next to the bocce field. I tested out various versions of the wonderful wines from the Bernardus winery.
I was also lucky enough to spend some time up in the Carmel mountains at the Bernardus winery. There I checked out the barrels, the manufacturing and the fields where they’re growing millions of grapes.
Don’t tell them, but when nobody was watching I managed to sneak into their lab too. It looked like the scientist’s lab from Frankenstein–test tubes, scientific devices, notes, calculators and a periodic table of the elements… I even saw a cool map of all the vineyards (below) and what types of wines are growing in them.
Bernardus vineyard map
Food
The culinary staff at the Bernardus is amazing. Over the three days I was there, several of the food items I ate were hands down the best I’d ever had. I’m not a big seafood guy, but they had some kind of crab salad that I gobbled up. I had the best pizza ever: goat cheese, kalamata olives and artichoke hearts (fresh picked from the Bernardus garden). I had the best chicken I’ve ever eaten which was marinated in herbs and lemon which were picked on site. Man, even the bacon I had with breakfast was by far the best damn bacon I’d ever had. Speaking of breakfast, I had fresh squeezed cranberry juice too. Yes the berries were grown on site. Oh, how can I not mention the fillet mignon which was so tender I thought I could chew it with my tongue and not my teeth?
| salmon |
The deserts… Oh boy. All of the deserts were hand made, even down to the chocolate truffles. I hate nuts and almonds. But I had an almond truffle that turned me into a nut…..lover. One taste bud overload was the fresh strawberries from the garden, dipped in chocolate.
(I’m going to take a break from writing this post now, since I’ve made myself hungry….. OK break over)
How can this relate to golf?
About a 10-15 minute drive from the Bernardus lodge are three golf courses ranked in the top 50 according to Golf Magazine. You may have heard of Pebble Beach? Pebble is #4 on the list, right behind Augusta National. Next door you can find Cypress point and Spyglass Hill, #2 and #48 respectively.
Conclusion
If you are heading to the Monterey, Pebble Beach, Carmel area for some golf or just plain vacation, consider staying at the Bernardus Lodge. Your mind, your body, your taste buds and your tum-tum will be inundated with wonderful sensations.

Performance enhancing drugs can’t help a golfer make a four foot putt…
The major governing authorities of golf have all agreed and signed off on the new golf doping policies and testing will likely begin in the spring. Details such as how testing will be done and what penalties will be handed out should someone fail a test are yet to be hammered out.
My main thought is a great quote Paul Azinger keeps saying: “Performance enhancing drugs can’t help a golfer make a four foot putt.”

For some unknown reason, Mazda wanted to treat us all (along with a few other cool bloggers) to a weekend of golf, delicious gourmet food, spa treatments, and car/motorcycle racing at Laguna Seca. Mazda has not asked us to write anything or do anything in return. Mazda just get gave us the keys to a free Miata hardtop to test drive and then treated us all like we were Tiger Woods. It can't get any better than that.
I've written more on my other blog about the amazing weekend with Mazda, and made this short video of the trip. Zoom. Zoom. Zoom.
P.S. Yes, clubs can fit in the Miata.

The Fed Ex Cup fails to deliver for the PGA
So why did the Fed Ex Cup flop big-time? Here are a few reasons:
1. The Fed Ex Cup seemed no different than a regular tour event, even lesser in stature than the World Golf Championship events. It didn't help that Tiger Woods wouldn't ever acknowledge that the Cup meant anything more to him than winning a tournament. Let's face it, the PGA is not NASCAR.
2. The scoring system was a mystery and left only 3 players in contention for the final tournament. Why not start the final 30 all from scratch for the final tourney?
3. The golf season is long enough, the Fed Ex Cup only made it longer -- forcing the marquee players like Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, and Ernie Els have to skip a week to be with family (such as at the start of their kids' school). The FedEx Cup could be reduced to 2 weeks, a complete shootout.
4. PGA Commissioner Tim Finchem didn't consult with some of the top players enough for settling on the format. It doesn't help when the marquee players are criticizing the Fed Ex Cup.

FedEx Cup Lessons Learned
- Tiger really is "The Man" - It seems like after every time Tiger tees off, some yahoo in the gallery yells out, "You the man!" It turns out that this yahoo was right all along. The FedEx Cup showcased the best player in the universe playing some of the best golf of his career. When Tiger hits fairways, he is virtually unbeatable. The FedEx Cup reaffirmed this emphatically.
- Tiger Woods' swing has changed for the better - During NBC's coverage, Dan Hicks commented that Butch Harmon believed that Tiger was swinging the club better than his phenomenal ballstriking year in 2000.
That's not surprising because it appears that Tiger has returned to some of those Butch Harmon swing elements circa 2000. I'm no swing expert, but my eyes have noticed some changes in Tiger's swing over the last several months. He appears to be standing taller and reverting back to Harmon's bread-and-butter two-plane swing. Tiger originally hired Hank Haney to teach him the one-plane swing with the ultimate goal of relieving career-jeopardizing stress on his left knee and to solve his frequent swing flaw of getting "stuck." While the one-plane may extend the life of his rickety left knee, it does little to prevent him from getting "stuck." I think that Tiger has finally come to this realization and he will commit to the two-plane while incorporating certain teachings from Haney. I think that we are all naturally either one or two-plane swingers and that Tiger is a natural two-planer. No offense to Mr. Haney, but Tiger swings the club best on two-planes. - Phil Mickelson is less of a choker, but he's still the joker - Phil has all the skill and talent to go toe-to-toe with Tiger. However, his mental approach will prevent him from beating Tiger on a consistent basis. Sure, Phil beat Tiger at the Deutsche Bank Championship, proving that he's no longer sitting near the top of ESPN's "Worst Choke Artists" list. However, his constant go-for-broke mentality almost cost him again. He's clearly too stubborn, too arrogant or both to ever relinquish this long-standing behavior. I guess it doesn't bother him because he's always smiling about it.
- The FedEx Cup format is far from perfect - I have a graduate degree in finance from a reputable institution, but even that high-priced education was insufficient for me to understand the FedEx Cup's point system. I can only imagine how the everyday golf fan felt about it. The architects of the FedEx Cup need to revisit the drawing board and devise a better system. Not only was it too complex, it allowed the top golfers to ditch some events altogether without causing much of a penalty. Not only did Tiger not participate in the first FedEx Cup event, The Barclays, but in retrospect he could have skipped the last event, The Tour Championship, and still have hoisted the FedEx Cup. That's a pretty ridiculous scenario for a so-called playoff system.
- Money talks - Usually this time of the year, the world's best golfers have packed it in for the season to watch football. The FedEx Cup's huge purse enticed them back onto the course for some serious competition. Heck, it wasn't until the FedEx Cup's second event that we got to see some head to head competition between Tiger and Phil this year. With all of it's flaws, the FedEx Cup succeeded in this regard.
- The FedEx Cup sure is pretty - One thing that adds legitimacy to the FedEx Cup is its beautiful trophy. Designed and created by Tiffany & Co., it is made of sterling silver and took approximately six months to create. At 15 inches in diameter, it is perfectly sized and shaped to hold all that prize money!

Steve Williams celebrates season with beer in NY
Speights, the leading beer in New Zealand, landed in New York City this past weekend as a part of Speight's Great Beer Delivery. After a particularly heart-wrenching email from a New Zealand native living in London about missing his favorite beer, Speights decided to bring the beer to people.
The traveling pub left New Zealand on July 25th to embark on a 70-day journey, stopping in New York City Sunday, September 16th. Other stops include Dunedin, Samoa (Apia), Panama, the Bahamas, New York City and finally London. The boat is an exact replica (albeit smaller in scale) of the ale houses found throughout New Zealand.
While in New York, the crew of 5 kiwis was accompanied by fellow kiwi Steve Williams, more well-known as the esteemed caddy of Tiger Woods. They spent their two days sightseeing around the Big Apple, hitting up a driving range for a quick golf lesson and attending their very first Yankees game.
Speights has found a special place in the heart of New Zealanders, and this 70-day journey to please one Londoner proves their unparalleled dedication to their customers.

Mazda MX-5 Miata Review
Mazda Blogger Retreat
I just got back from a great trip to Monterey and Carmel California, courtesy of my new best friends at Mazda. They and their PR experts are realizing the great reach from the “underground” world we bloggers really have. Mazda invited a handful of “lifestyle” bloggers for the weekend to experience their automobiles, hospitality and their awesome Mazda Laguna Seca race track first hand. That handful included golf bloggers, food bloggers, travel bloggers and fashion bloggers. I’m going to do a feature post on each of these new blogger friends soon.
Mazda IS Zoom Zoom
Mazda is one hip company. Mazda really is “zoom zoom” in not only their automobiles, but in the way they run their company and with the types of people that work for them. You’d have to be “zoom zoom” to think of a blogger retreat like we had, knowing the bloggers would be writing about the great experiences they had.
Mazda MX-5 Miata Overview
I’ve reviewed dozens of golf courses, hundreds of golf accessories and clubs, training aids and web sites. But I have yet to review a vehicle until now. My review of the MX-5 (Miata) will be from a golfer’s perspective.
The MX-5 is a two seat, convertible sports car. The MX-5 is very cool looking and sporty on the outside. On the inside is an amazingly powerful 2.0 liter, 16 valve, 166 horsepower, four cylinder motor. 166 horses may not sound like a lot, but consider that the car is very small and light. Any more horses than that and the engine may fly out of the chassis, leaving the shell behind!
Mazda MX-5 Cool Features
Aside from the sporty speed and handling of the MX-5, the obvious coolest feature is the convertible hard top. With the click of a button (see videos below), the top retracts or goes back up in less than 15 seconds!
The Grand Touring model MX-5 I tested had all the bells and whistles: 7 speaker Bose sound system with steering wheel controls, leather heated seats, power everything, air dam, cruise control, window de-misters (didn’t even know those existed), xenon headlights, sport suspension and more.
The advanced keyless entry was very “zoom zoom.” You have this credit card sized plastic remote on your key chain and you don’t actually use a “key” in the ignition to start the car. With the key you can unlock, pop the trunk, roll the windows down etc.
My MX-5 also had the very hip six speed automatic transmission. If I wanted to get sporty, I switched the tranny to manual mode and controlled when the car shifted.
On The Road
The MX-5 is a BLAST to drive! This car is SO fast. In fact it’s way faster than my BMW. Correction… It’s faster than my X-wife’s BMW.
I was blowing cars away on the curvy mountain roads of Carmel California. I left a Jaguar in the dust.
The MX-5 is amazing on corners as well, with the sport suspension and the near 50/50 weight ratio.
Mazda’s designers did a terrific job handling the wind with the top down. While flying down the winding mountain roads, my dad called me to give me updates of my college football team (Utah) as it was blowing out #11 UCLA. Even though I was flying down these roads at crazy speeds with the top down, the wind noise was quiet enough in the cockpit for me to hear my pop’s updates on the cell phone with no problems. Final score: Utah 44 - UCLA 6.
Golfer’s Perspective
You can’t go to Monterey and be a golfer without driving down the shoreline and checking out Spyglass and Pebble Beach. Having taken the MX-5 down the shoreline and the famous “17 Mile Drive” I can attest that there’s no better car for cruising California’s shore lines than an MX-5. I never could figure out how long the 17 Mile Drive was though…
When it came time to golf I had a blast driving to the course obviously. But the trunk of the MX-5 isn’t exactly what I’d call “roomy.” In order for me to fit my clubs in the trunk, I had to take all the clubs out of the bag first. I just settled on letting my clubs ride shotgun to the course.
Conclusion
You can get a maxed out MX-5 like the one I drove for about $25K. Maxed out! Lesser models start around $21K. What a bargain.
The MX-5 is “zoom zoom” to the max. Lock yourself into the driver’s seat, put away anything that will blow out of the cockpit and tighten down your hat. The Mazda MX-5 is FAST, fun, fashionable, flirtatious and frisky (just like I like my women).

Why Americans might want the Ryder Cup to go co-ed
Yesterday at the Solheim, Morgan Pressel took down Annika (who is showing her age) in the feature match. Youngers Nicole Castrale, Paula Creamer, Natalie Gulbis and Stacy Prammanasudh were also victorious in singles. Throw in Brittany Lincicome, and the Americans have six 20-something female golfers with more moxie and game than any 20-something American male golfers.
As usual, though, an interesting female golf story was overshadowed by the men, even though Tiger (and a too easy course) made the FedEx final rather dull. Ever eager to get the ladies their due, here's my latest (crazy?) suggestion:
How about making the Presidents Cup a co-ed event?
No offense to Scott Verplank and Woody Austin and Stewart Cink, but wouldn't it be more exciting to see Creamer and Gulbis and Pressel hanging with Tiger and Phil next week? Similarly, I know I'd be more likely to tune in to see Ai Miyazato and Laurena Ochoa and Karrie Webb than K.J. Choi and Nick O'Hearn and Mike Weir.
Alternatively, perhaps we could and should create another event --- the World Cup? --- which could be co-ed and could assemble the biggest draws from both tours and all countries. As long as the women played from moved-up tees, I think it would be very fair (and very interesting) to see mixed teams playing best ball and alternate shot competitions.

I’m back from Monterey, but my clubs aren’t
Wow…. What an amazing trip I just got back from, courtesy of my new friends at Mazda. I’ve got SO much material to go through and I’m going to be posting a TON of pictures and video soon. My new blogger and Mazda friends were a great crowd to hang with for the weekend. I’ll be doing a feature post on each blogger I met.
Where are my clubs?
My baggage was lost when I got to Monterey. For a while I thought I’d have to wear the same underwear for three days, but it finally arrived about six hours after I did. I think the other bloggers were more worried about me wearing the same underwear than I was…
When I got home last night, my Ogio Monster bag which contains my sticks (golf clubs) was missing. The Delta agent couldn’t even tell me what city they were in. I’m sweating, hoping they make it here. It has been about 18 hours and they’re still MIA.
HOG sever down
To top it off, when I woke up this morning all of my web sites were down. Some bonehead cut the main line to HOG headquarters… It is working now.

Americans Victorious at Solheim Cup

The U.S. team poses with the Solheim Cup. (AP Photo/Alastair Grant)
Winning 8 of 12 singles matches, the United States retained the Solheim Cup with a 16-12 victory over the Europeans in rainy, cold and windy conditions at the Halmstad Golf Club in Halmstad, Sweden. It was the Americans first win on foreign soil since 1996.
It was a brutal week, assistant captain Beth Daniel told AP. We had a young team. We told them every night that we were so proud. They never gave up. They never complained. No player ever came to us. No. They just kept saying, We've got to go out and play and do the best we can.
The Europeans held a slim lead heading into Sunday's singles matches, but the Americans staged a strong rally. Especially impressive was Morgan Pressel, who defeated Annika Sorenstam 2 and 1 in Sorenstam's home country.
None of us feel like losers, European team member Laura Davies said. We lost to a better team today.

Will Tiger Woods win Fed Ex Cup (or by how many strokes)?
As fate would have it, Tiger will be paired with respectable journeyman Woody Austin, who gave Tiger a good run at the final day of the PGA (even beating him on the final day, something that Austin repeatedly said during this press conference). Austin said that Tiger can be beat but you have to be playing well to do so.
The media guys are all wondering whether Woody will be Sabbatinied by Tiger today? What's your take?

Ben Hogan Appearing in South Carolina
An Evening with Ben Hogan will be presented on Saturday, September 22, at the Theatre of the Republic in Conway, South Carolina. Tickets are $16 in advance, $20 at the door. The box office number is 843-488-0821.
An Evening with Ben Hogan is a one-man show performed by George McDowell, a Hogan aficionado (and reader of this blog) who Ive come to know over the last several months.
At one point in our correspondence, George sent me his bibliography of Ben Hogan. It rivals that of the Hogan biographies Ive read. George has thoroughly researched his subject so he can bring Hogan and the golf legend's peculiarities alive on stage.
Georges Story
Ben Hogan is a fascinating, larger-than-life figure that captures the interest of so many golf fans. As Ive blogged various stories and tidbits about Ben Hogan, many of you have contacted me with some interesting Hogan connection.
George was one of the first, and I think youll enjoy his story how he got into golf and how he came to Ben Hogan and doing the show.
I took up golf at age 50, but the game interfered with my thriving law practice. Soon, the thriving law practice interfered with the game.
After a few snowy winters in Baltimore, I realized I could no longer tolerate months without being able to play. So I rented a house in Florida for the winter. I had to make money to afford maintaining two places, but a straight job would cut into the time I wanted to play golf.
I hit on the idea of doing the one-man-show. I could practice it and put it on at night, and it wouldn't interfere with golf in the daylight. I'm the same height, weight, and build as was Hogan, and I sort of look like him.
There are hundreds of country clubs around Tampa, and I put it on in a few. After a couple of shows, I began to feel that I really understood Hogan and what made him tick.
I used to translate ancient Greek texts, mostly mathematics, but some philosophy as well. To properly put in English what these very smart guys (Euclid, Archimedes, Plato, etc.) meant, it's necessary to fully immerse in what they are talking about.
For me, at least, more dogged and determined than smart or intuitive, I struggle with possible meanings, rattle them around in my head, even drink some beer at them, until a bright burst of crystal clarity comes, and I know for absolute certain I understand the concept under consideration. Then I try to add a little beauty and poetry to the words in English.
And this is what happened to me with Hogan. I've studied him so much, I understand the man.
I havent seen the show, but I hope to in the near future. If you live near or happen to be in the Myrtle Beach area, make plans to attend. And if you get a chance to meet George McDowell, tell him The Armchair Golfer sent you.

Q&A: Paula Creamer, U.S. Solheim Cup Team Member
(BBC Photo)The Solheim Cup, the Ryder Cup-type competition for women professionals, will tee off on Friday in Halmstad, Sweden. The three-day team competition pitting U.S. players against European players will feature foursomes, four-ball and singles matches.
Leading the Americans into action will be the ebullient Paula Creamer, the top points earner on the U.S. team. In Creamer's first Solheim Cup appearance as an LPGA Toour rookie in 2005, she posted an impressive 3-1-1 record in a U.S. victory.
Creamer won her third LPGA Tour title at the SBS Open at Turtle Bay in February, and is currently No. 7 in the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings.
Last week Paula answered my questions about the current season and her plans and goals for the near future.
Armchair Golf: What are your 2007 highlights (so far)?
Paula Creamer: This year has been pretty good overall so far. I'm glad to have gotten back in the winner's circle -- and early on! I'm also pleased with the number of times I've put myself into contention this year. Of course, playing at the Old Course at St. Andrews for the Ricoh Women's British Open was a big highlight of the year so far.
Armchair Golf: Twenty years from now, what do you think will be your top memories from your first tournament at St. Andrews?
Paula Creamer: I think the fact that my 21st birthday fell on the Sunday (final round) will always remain with me as a terrific memory. The scoreboard at the 1st/18th hole had a happy birthday wish for me, which was special!
Armchair Golf: You had great success in your first Solheim Cup. What is your approach to match play and team competition?
Paula Creamer: I love team competitions, but more importantly, I love representing the USA! Even though we all have our individual matches, we are one as a team. That's pretty cool.
Armchair Golf: What part of your game needs the most attention right now? What are you working on?
Paula Creamer: Im working a lot on my short game. Chipping and putting.
Armchair Golf: This is year three as a pro. What have you learned this year that you didn't learn in your rookie and sophomore seasons?
Paula Creamer: Im getting a lot better with my time management now.
Armchair Golf: How many more events do you plan to play this year?
Paula Creamer: I don't know the exact number off the top of my head, but I think I have about eight or nine events left.
Armchair Golf: What are your plans for the off season?
Paula Creamer: Keeping myself fit, visiting some friends and family, getting my new home in order, working on my game.
Armchair Golf: Fill in the blank. Next year in golf I want to ...
Paula Creamer: WIN MAJORS!
Armchair Golf: Just to do some in-depth reporting on your favorite color, do you have any preferred shades of pink or do you like them equally?
Paula Creamer: Any shade of pink is fine with me! It's such a great color.
Armchair Golf: Any other comments?
Paula Creamer: GO USA!

HOG hits the road to Monterey
I’ve got a good reason my DVR is working overtime this weekend on the Tour Championship as I’ll be in Monterey, CA for three days. Myself and several other bloggers get the opportunity to go on a great weekend in wine country. There are two other golf bloggers and several food & wine type bloggers I’ll be hanging with for the weekend.
I’ll be golfing there, but I can’t remember where! Oh and I’ll be just a few minutes from Pebble Beach and Spyglass so I’ll be dropping by there to check them out!
More details when I settle in and find a wireless connection for my laptop on the road.
Next post from Monterey!
